Why i have to buy Spreadshirt for 8.000.000 $

If you click Shop at the navigation bar, you will be led to the GET4M webshop, where i offer the 4M logo and my Helvetica shirt to the world (more designs to follow). As always when i print shirts i use Spreadshirt: they offer good fabrics with style and heavy-duty vectorprints.

The company is splitted into two Headquarters: there is the european Spreadshirt which prints in Europe and ships to Europe, and there is the north-american based Spreadshirt which prints in the usa and ships to the usa/asia/australia and nz.

Here is the deal why the 8.000.000 $

The main problem is to offer the shirts and the shipment conveniently to a worldwide audience. Unfortunately for me, Speadshirt lacks the smartness to merge their north-american sweatshop with the european one, so i have to do the merge! And it goes like this:

Dear Spreadshirt, gimme’ a minute to explain

At the moment you have to upload your vectorized design to both headquarters and wait for a human approval from both facilities — even if you uploaded the exact same file. That’s not smart at all! If a vector design get an approval by the european Spreadshirt, it should be just fine for the american plot-process as well — and vice versa. So why do they waste time and let two technicans approve the same file twice? Why is Spreadshirt wasting their human ressources? I emailed them and they are usually open to suggestions, but i guess my mail got into the wrong hands (i hope it were only the wrong hands). Big time Nonsense.

I know that many wannabe-shirt-designers like me do this, because they have no choice. And we will continue to do it, because it is the only way we can offer shirts worldwide if we want Spreadshirts quality. But there are other companies who are close to take over. Not cafepress crap, but bountee as an example.

Secondly, if your done designing your european Spreadshirt shop, you have to create another one at their american site and do the whole design mumbo-jumbo again. Why not offer a button that says “offer this design and shop-style to the other side of the world as well”?

I do understand that they probably need to offer different shirt versions from different manufacturies in their two big headquarters, because the style and prices differ, but that is the only restriction we have to think about when we pick a shirt: This shirt will only available in the us shop, this shirt will only available in the eu shop, this shirt will be available worldwide. Cut me some slack and get your shit together Spreadshirt, i don’t want to rob a bank and hide, just to buy you.

Well, this is what i am struggeling with at the moment when i think about the GET4M Shop. If you know something better to get my stuff out, please — i beg you — let me fucking know.

The freecastler (?) seal

Seal of the university of freiburg (province of breisgau, germany). My girlfriend is currently waiting for her approval to study molecular medicine there and i thought about a “i dig it” shirt that i could wear. So i color-mashed the old seal a little, to look a bit fitter on american apparel.

Seal reads “Sigillum universitatis study friburgensis brisgaudie”.

WP Maczoom (Update)

This is a “iPhoto style” inspired Lightbox2 plugin and it auto adds rel=”lightbox” to single- or doublequoted imagelinks in your posts, all you have to do is activate the plugin and you’re set. Click on the image to see it in action.

EDIT: the caption bar (you can see in the preview) aint too beautiful in IE, so i removed it in my installation, since i don’t find it necessary for single images. if you come up with a fix, please let me know.

My skydiving video

I admit i look a bit funny in my amateur skydiving dress (bit tight in the crotch) and the double-decker hat, but see for yourself. The dress is the last thing you care about when you are about to jump out of a plane at 4500 meters.

Kate Nash - album out now!

Kate Nash has a real talent for writing songs about reality: Cups of tea, cheese on toast, boyfriends being dickheads, it’s all in there, and this makes her very refreshing to listen to. And i like the beats.

If you feel like a pirate today, you can download her album via Rapidshare, but that’s not cool unless you promise to buy it later. Available at Amazon mp3 and iTunes.

You will probably like Jill Sobule, Lily Allen and Imani Coppola as well, take a bite.
