TUAW — the unofficial Apple weblog — always recieved gold in my list of badly designed blogs. And it’s a blog about Apple! I mean that’s like saying “it’s a blog about design” for fucks sake!
And today they’ve presented a new “design” and logo as well. When i heard about that on Twitter my first thought was “maybe they managed to make that little apple inside of their logo look even better”. But nopes, that’s TUAW style, what do you expect. Nooo, they tried to completely redesign the logo, the apple is gone! They added a stupid leaf on top of their name, roughly a mile above it to make it look even more silly. By the way: Aren’t there enough leaf inspired logos popping up already lately?
I bet they did not even realize about their apple silhouette inside of their logo! Anyway, it is not really that hard to spot: just have a look between the A & the W.

Or maybe they had to get rid of it and silently re-designed it because of that?
No matter what it was, it looks like that leaf if flying away. One minute and it’s gone!
Too bad they are still a good news source.
Maybe i could run it through Yahoo pipes to get rid of starters like “Here at TUAW we like…” and all those flatheaded jokes.
Guess i do have a bad hair day today. Right, and while i am at it, does shotgun commenting on your own article make you look totally bonkers, or is that ok?
Yes. No. Um, no. Sure. And yes, absolutely.
[Seriously, did you think TUAW’s designers didn’t know about the apple in the old logo?]
I had a good laugh with your own comment and no , you are not crazy , Manuel , just so funny
Thanks for that Marianne
And Mike, what are you doing in here? It’s a godforsaken rant! You shouldn’t be in here, that’s like farting before I said pull my finger! Nah, now that you made it: It’s hard to believe, but yeah sometimes I really doubted that awareness. Can’t be true though, can it?
Anyway, of cause I should proof my “bad design” points with better design or even something like constructive critism. Well, maybe next time (I’m still reading TUAW no matter what — can’t help it —, the ugly Apple weblog).
