You’ve got mail: Bramtastic!

Last year, my girlfriend and i went to Lanzarote for vacation and while taking a break from the beach, we found that great store called “Pull and Bear” (for what ever that stands for). And since i’m always in trouble finding some shorts that i really like (most of them are ways too long or sport ugly prints or even come in camo), i was surprised that the first pair i spotted in there was just looking perfect.

So after 1 year wearing it, it kind of was time to find something new. Problem with that is, “Pull and Bear” thinks it is enough to offer themselfs to the Spaniards and mail order seems to be no-go policy.

Hi Manu,
No, no camera but your shorts. Hope you recieve ‘em before your birthday as the shippingcost is on me (yes, a birthday gift). Take care, Bramus!

Oddly enough, they do have one store in Antwerp, Belgium (don’t ask me why they picked Antwerp). So i had to convince Bram in Gent to hop on a train or something and buy me some shorts there, otherwise i think i would have taken a short holiday in Spain again just to get me the shorts myself (i know, it sounds weird, but thanks). Luckily Bram was able to activate the ESRS (Emergency Shopping Rescue Squad – which i wasn’t even aware of its existence to be honest) and found a post office around Gent which was not off duty 24/7.

The box arrived today, but as soon as i opened it, the first clouds started to darken the Frisian Riviera (after one early month of summer weather) and it almost feels like spring again. Birthday BBQ is now pre-re-located from the beach into my parents gardenhut. Well, at least we got a dishwasher there, hooray! — gotta stay positive, eh?

Bramus, you are great! The arrival of the shorts is already my biggest birthday gift this year! Thank you and thanks to your tough lady at the ESRS! :)

PS: Add another one to “No, i never met him in real life. I met him on the web 15 years ago, but he is a good friend — just as much as the guys in real life”.

Acid new Bike for the summer!

I just clicked “order” – Yay! Couldn’t resist and choosed Express delivery, so on Friday morning (if all goes well, i’m living on an island after all) my new bicycle will be delivered via DHL courier.

Color code is “White Apple”, guess that is perfectly with me. Building sites and spending money rocks! Click the image to zoom in/out.

…you read about Sir Richard Branson (Virgin) teamed up with Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Google) to finally establish permanent human settlement on Mars by teaming up and launching Virgle!

Especially like the Google Mars maps! Larry and Sergey about Project Virgle on YouTube. There are still slots open for Virgle Pioneers and for the Mission Control staff: Apply now!

You are still in deep shit, when…

I’ve re-desiged the site. Hope the fine print in the header makes sense to you. Now i am waiting for WordPress 2.5 to be released so i can update the rest of it and clean up the trillions of plugins.

Unfortunately, i just copied the theme from Æstheticrew and changed it a bit for this site, and now i like this look better than my new site. Damnit.

Manuel Martensen turns private, Æstheticrew goes live!

Nah, you won’t be charged for looking at my nonsense. I just hearby announce my new site Æstheticrew to you.

But this site will not vanish, it will just turn into “just another WordPress blog” with private, personal and fun stuff, but Æstheticrew will be my new home to talk about everything “professional” (Interface & graphic design, typography, contemporary art & fashion, marketing & advertisement strategies, aesthetical believes & attitudes).
